Screenings, runs, and community events — the moments where 2,000+ miles of running turn into something measurable. Here's what's next.
A single-day cardiac screening event for young athletes, powered by MCORE. We filled 65 time slots in under four days — a record — and MCORE opened 5 more, bringing the day to 70 screenings.
211 miles across Kentucky in five days — from the Tennessee border to the town where I grew up. Every mile funded, every community reached moves us closer to a world where no kid dies from an undetected heart condition.
The run ends at Tower Park in Fort Thomas — and the community is invited to celebrate. Join us for a Heart Health Fair to close out the 211-mile run across Kentucky: free youth heart screenings, education, and a finish-line welcome for Kyle, Moose, and Maverick.
A youth heart screening is a quick, painless limited echocardiogram — a non-invasive ultrasound of the heart — that looks for the structural heart conditions a standard sports physical almost never catches.
Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes, and the conditions that cause it — hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Long QT syndrome, Wolff-Parkinson-White, and others — are almost always silent. A kid can feel completely fine and still be at risk. A limited echocardiogram can find the problem before it finds them.
That's the bet behind the Fort Thomas event, and behind every mile of this mission: find it before it finds them.
